Set Up
Put 3 offense players on the field in a triangle (2 up top, 1 on crease) and have 3 defenders guarding each player. To start, have the 2 top players back and forth with the on ball and off ball players adjusting accordingly. On the whistle, have a payer dodge the alley, the crease defender will slide to double team, and the on ball player will revere back to the crease. They will bump out backside help to cover he top offensive player.
Coaching Points and Principles
- On ball defender should be shading the offensive player to side of field
- Crease defender should always be moving so they are between the crease player and the ball carrier
- The adjacent off ball defender should be sunken in slightly to support the crease if needed when slide occurs
- As the defender slides, we want to take a good approach leading with our stick and driving the top side shoulder
- Communication! Use “1 or Hot” as the 1 slide, “2” as backside support
