A good drill to work on spacing with a dodger

Set Up

Play 6v6 and Coach starts every rep by pointing to one offensive player.  That player must dodge first.

Everyone else has one job:

  • Drift away
  • Fill behind
  • Mirror
  • Exchange

They cannot cut into the dodge. Dodger should read the slide, and then After the first pass,  play live.

Coaching Points & Principles

  • Players should start thinking “What should I do while my teammate is dodging?”
  • Spacing

Progressions

  • Have them play live keep away, until a coach’s whistle, then that player dodges so its a little more random and challenging
  • play 5v5 or 4v4 for younger players or you need more space to show the movement
