Set Up
Put a line of players on the wing, and another line up top. Balls start with the wing line, and the drill starts with the wing player carrying the ball towards their teammate up top. The player up top will start drifting, and receives a pass on the go/run. We want the players to catch and attack the goal while moving. By doing this, it makes it hards for an approaching defender to match/square you up. Finish with a nice down hill shot on the run, using our foundational principles below
Coaching Points and Principles
- Spacing – With the carry/drift to start, try to maintain a 8-10 yard separation
- Passing – try to lead your teammate to where they are drifting to.. throwing it behind them will slow them down
- Catching on the go.. get your stick up as a target, you can work on hand exchanges or catching with your stick leading you
- Shooting on the Run – GET DOWNHILL! finish with your body moving towards the goal. Clear your hips first by driving off back foot, and follow through with your top hand
Progressions
- Change areas of the field for different shot/pass types
