Set Up
Put players in 2 lines, for example one on the wing and a second adjacent high. Start the ball with the first player in line on the wing, and start another player on the crease. Add a defender (coach or player) inside on the crease as well. The play initiates with the player off ball popping off the crease into high space. The defender will either slide to the ball carrier or the player popping. if The defender slides to the ball carrier, the player will receive the ball and take a step-down shot. If the defender slides to the player popping, they will backdoor cut for an inside finish.
Coaching Points and Principles
- Player passing the ball – Be active, don’t stand still to make a pass. Move your feet and get your hands up ready to make either pass
- Player receiving the ball – If getting a step down, try to get the ball in and out of your stick quickly, catching the ball loaded. If backdoor cut, get your stick out in front of you as a target for your teammate.
Progressions
- Move lines anywhere on field to work on shot and location variations
