Executing the Scissor Power Rake at the Faceoff
The scissor power rake is a strong, physical faceoff move used to pull the ball into space while protecting it from the opponent. The player starts in a balanced stance with weight centered and the stick head positioned square to the ball. Hands stay relaxed to allow for quick and controlled movement.
At the whistle, the player clamps or pins the ball briefly, then uses a scissoring motion with the hands and arms to create leverage. The bottom hand pulls the stick across the body while the top hand drives and controls the head, raking the ball out with power. The motion stays tight to the ground to keep the ball protected.
As the ball moves to space, the player stays low and accelerates through the exit, using body position to shield the opponent. A successful scissor power rake combines strength, timing, and clean mechanics to turn the draw into immediate possession.
