Set up

Put players in a single file line, about 10 yards away from a sideline. The 1st and 3rd player are on same team, 2nd player is on defense. Drill starts with a ball rolling in towards the sideline. The 1 player must go attack the ball with 2 trailing. They have a few options here, but its important for 3 to communicate as they follow for help

  • Get ground ball, roll to where teammate 3 is telling them and pass
  • Goose the ball to a direction where player 3 can get it
  • Kick or flip ball to teammate

Coaching Points and Principles

  • Player 1 – Run through the ground ball, if you can and escape the pressure.. need to play in tight spaces. Eye/Hand coordination if you plan to goose it
  • Player 2 – No hard checks, just try to disrupt the ground ball by a lift or a poke, or by boxing out
  • Player 3 – Communicate and pop to open space for a quick pass
