Set Up
Create a playing area that is 20 x 40 or whatever size works for your team. Split the players into 2 teams, and put 2 goals at each end. The playing area will be 3 v 3, and each team will have 2 support players in the offensive end. The support players can only relay the ball, they are not allowed to shoot of come in the playing area. During the 3v3 game, the offense can use those support players as needed, and work on off ball action like C-Cuts, Off ball picks, etc.. Tell the support players they can only hold the ball for 2-3 seconds, and then they can either pass back to a teammate in play, or to the other support players. Play for 1 minute, sub players in or you can create a sub on the fly style of play
Coaching Points and Principles
- Work on off Ball action – use picks to challenge defense
- Defense put pressure on ball and off ball / need to communicate
- Play fast – not a slow down game
- Add in constraints, Players must make a pass to a support player before attacking goal.
Progressions
- Make field smaller for more experienced players or larges for less experienced players
- Change the players on field, making its 2v2 or 4v4
