Set Up

Put a goalie in the cage, and a line of defenders up top with some short stick athletes. The short stick will carry the ball down the alley, being lightly guarded by a long polo. When they get about 8-10 yards away, a pass/shot to the goalie. Once that happens the long pole will break out upfield being chased by the offensive player, and the goalie must make a a good over the shoulder pass that their teammate can catch while in motion.

Coaching Points & Principles

  • Long poles when breaking up field, don’t turn your your hips back, try to run full speed catching the ball over the shoulder.
  • Goalies must make good passes to their teammates, trying to drop the ball in front of them while they run full speed
