Ball Toss

Summary

Medicine Ball Overhead Tosses are an excellent way for lacrosse players to develop total-body power and explosive hip extension. In this movement, players start in an athletic stance holding the medicine ball between their legs, then rapidly extend their hips, knees, and arms to launch the ball explosively overhead behind them. The movement trains the same power pattern used when sprinting, shooting, and delivering checks, helping athletes generate force from the ground up.

Sample Set/Rep Program
Use a light to moderate medicine ball (6–10 lbs) and have players perform 5–6 explosive tosses per set. Focus on maximum effort and full extension each rep rather than speed. Complete 3–4 sets with 45–60 seconds rest between sets so players can maintain power and quality.
