Set Up

Put cones about 5 yards apart, and a line of defenders about 5 yards away 45 degree angle. They will approach the cone square, backpedal, and then approach the next cone. Once that’s complete, the second progression is a side run, not a backpedal

Coaching Points & Principles

  • Approaches – We want to approach the cone square, and on the heels of our feet.. if we are on our toes, leaning forward, we are off balance. If we stay on our heels, we are in a position to start backpedaling
  • Side Run – We need to turn out hips, and NOT our shoulders. Its NOT a shuffle
