Summary

This is a great drill to get players to work on the hand extension and body control when getting ready to shoot.

Set up

Use a goal as a prop, and you can set the players up anywhere on the field. You can use either a coach or another player line as the passers. The player will focus on catching the ball loaded as if they were going to shoot off the pass. Once they catch, they will execute a hitch, step upfield and drive off their inside foot to get a small jump shot. We want the players to work on trying to finish the ball LOW.

Coaching Points

  1. Catch the ball loaded, always be a threat!
  2. Execute the hitch, don’t push hands forward, try to use deception with shoulders/elbow
  3. Drive hips back to cage when shooting, don’t just jump up!
  4. Finish Low
