The C-Check is a quick, controlled way to disrupt a pass or shot without throwing a big check. As the offensive player prepares to move the ball, use coordinated hand and stick movement to trace a tight “C” motion, moving from above the anchor hand to underneath it and finishing with a quick lift.
- Stay on the hands — maintain controlled pressure before initiating the check.
- Start above — position your stick near the top of the offensive player’s anchor hand.
- Make the “C” — quickly work your stick around the hand from top to bottom.
- Finish with a lift — get underneath the anchor hand and lift as they pass or shoot.
- Keep it compact — the motion should be quick and tight, not a big sweeping check.
- Coordinate the hands — use both hands to efficiently guide the stick through the C motion.
- Disrupt, don’t chase — the goal is to alter the pass or shot while maintaining defensive position.
