Soft Catch Circle

Circle Pass Preview

Players learn to give with the stick so every catch sticks instead of bouncing out.

SET UP

Form a circle of 6–8 players with one ball in play. One player starts with the ball and passes to anyone across the circle; receivers focuses on soft hands and give with the stick head, cradle once, and pass to a new teammate.

For U8–U10, use a coach as a second feeder and keep passes short.

For U12–U14, add a second ball and call “left” or “right” so players catch on both sides.

Run 2–3 minutes, then rest and switch directions.

COACHING POINTS & PRINCIPLES

  1. Soft hands: cushion the ball by pulling the stick slightly toward the body on contact.
  2. Eyes to the stick head before the throw so the catch is ready early.
  3. Cradle once after the catch to settle the ball before looking to pass.
