A great passing drill that works on quick releases!
Set Up
Put your players in lines (4 or 5) about 5 yards apart creating a circle or diamond. The first player in line is breaking out about 8 yards to open space to receive a pass, and at that time, the adjacent teammate will pop to receive a pass. Continue and have players return to their line after they make a pass!
Coaching Points and Principles
- Quick release, we want to pop to space, catch and get ride of it as soon as possible
- Limit cradling, teammates need to be ready to pop for the pass
Progressions
- Change the number of lines
- Rather than catch/throw, have them catch, outside hand, roll away, hand exchange and then pass
- Add in ground balls
