The Question Mark Dodge – Stationary Shooting

This drill will work on the last 3 steps of the question mark dodge when attacking the goal from X or low wings.

Set Up

Put a cone out in the “Island” Area, which is 5 Yards out from the Goal Line and 5 Yards Up (5×5). The player will start the drill with their body squared up at the cone, facing the midfield. Their first move is to pop their hands out and away from their body, while taking the first step to the sideline. They want want to try and generate their hips and shoulders to get back towards the goal.

Coaching Points and Principles

  • Start Square, stick on your hips and eyes UP
  • First move is popping your hands toward sideline away from body and following with your step
  • Get back downhill with your hips and shoulders driving to the cage
  • Get them to shoot far side inside pipe and changing up shot location every time

Progressions

  • Start the drill with a carry up to the island
  • Start the drill with a dodge at X and attacking the Island
