Set Up

Split your group into 2 teams, and play inside a playing area. In this video, they are using the circle in the middle of the field. Place 5 players on each team inside the playing area, and give it to 1 team to start on offense (White for example). The team on offense must play keep away, and will receive a point for every 4 passes completed in the playing time. If the offense turns the ball over, or steps outside the playing area, the play is dead, and the offense is now OUT. The team that was just on defense (Dark), will go to offense, and place 5 new (white) players in on defense. You play Defense then Offense, and then you are out. Continue rotating through the players for 5-10 minutes you get a lot of reps!

Coaching Points and Principles

  • Offense – Be deceptive off ball to get a pass, using V-Cuts, backside screens, and hard cuts! Player carrying the ball must run hard, move, pop and get hands free to make good passes. Playing in tight spaces, you CANNOT hang your stick!
  • Defense – Communicate through the off ball play, and when playing ON Ball, play with pressure to make it hard for the player to make a pass

Progressions

  • Play 3v3 or 4v4 with younger players and more spacing
  • For less experienced players, give the offense 1 extra player as an advantage
