A transition drill that works on unsettled play

Set Up

Put a full team in on both sides and start the drill with a face off. The team who wins the ground ball will go play 6v5 on the end they are attacking. The face-off player who lost the face-off will get a ball from coach and attack the other direction in a 4v3 fast break.

Coaching Points & Principles

  • Faceoff & Wing Play – Work on emphasis on trying to get ball and the possession
  • Transition Play – 6v5 and 4v3 early offense – try to move the ball fast to find scoring opportunities
