SET UP

Set up on the field, 6 defensive players and 8 offensive players. The defense wants to focus on protection the house (crease). The offense will set up and always keep 2 player’s on the crease. To start the drill the offense will pass the ball around in possession. The defense should always have an on ball player, adjacent support, and crease cover. The Defense is always shifting as the ball moves around. Once the coach blows whistle, the offense can attack the goal trying to score. Play 2-3 minutes of keep away, and then play live, with the offensive trying to score

PRINCIPLES & COACHING POINTS

  • Defense – Rotation and support on and off ball / communication / off ball passing lanes
  • Offense – Create space for passes off ball for your teammates and/or to attack the goal

PROGRESSIONS

Coach can make the field 6v5 to make it easier for the defense or make it 6v4 so the offense has less space to work with. In 86, offense must ALWAYS have 2 players on the crease
