A really good 1v1 and pick drill that represents a lot of quick actions
Set Up
Put an attacker and defender at X, another offensive player on GLE, and a 3rd on the crease with the 2nd defender. The drill triggers with the GLE player setting a pick for the dodger. They will remain in a 1v1 until the following scenarios occurs
- If the attacker gets a clean look to the goal, they try to finish
- If the defender guarding the ball carrier, does a good job and no advantage occurs, the player must reverse the ball back to X, and now its a live 3v2 with all players
Coaching Points & Principles
- GLE Picks – diagram shows an apex pick, but all have to be executed at GLE or below
- Quick decisions – if no advantage, revers and play 3v2, move ball quick to get best look
- Defense – work through picks and fight to get back topside or be the driver
