Summary

Twister Shooting is a finishing technique used from the low wing when attacking the adjacent pipe, allowing you to increase your shooting angle without switching hands.

Set Up

Start on the low WEAK SIDE wing, so your stick is towards sideline. Start your dodge, ad attack the near pipe. As you approach the cage, keep the stick in your strong hand and bring it across your body using a Canadian/Twister motion, creating a better angle to the goal than a traditional strong-hand release may provide.

Coaching Points & principles

  • Focus on getting your shoulders turned, keeping control of the stick, and finding the open cage around the goalie.
  • This is especially useful in tight spaces where changing the release point can turn a limited-angle opportunity into a quality scoring chance.
