A shooting drill designed by Jim Mitchell of Princeton Lacrosse

Set Up

Put a goalie in cage, and put 1 line at each high wing. One player will cut to the middle and receive a pass from the opposite wing, and take a good hard shot on the run. The constraint portion of it, players have two areas to try and hit

  1. Nearside High
  2. Farside Low

*you can either tell or not tell the goalie where they plan to shoot

Coaching Points and Principles

  • Shooting on the run – get down hill
  • Shot release – We want to get our hands free and loaded before we get too far pas the middle of the field.

Progressions

  • Give players 2 different options for targets, make it based on the goalie you will be facing in scout mode
