Face Dodge Shooting

A great shooting drill for a team to work on the face dodge and adding in deception to an approaching defender

Set Up

Put 2 lines up top on the high wings, and a single line with balls in between the goal and restraining line. Players from inside like will pass to a top line, and approach with their stick up in passing lane. The shooter will catch the ball loaded and wind up like they are taking a shot, but will execute a face dodge instead before they reset their feet and take a shot

Coaching Points and Principles

• Catch loaded, and wind up, sell the shot
• Pull the stick in front of your face and between shoulders to provide maximum shield from defender
• Get your feet reset and take a good shot on the run or as a step down
