Set Up
Set up a box in the fire zone on the field (High scoring areas). Add a defender and a token offense player on the crease. Put a line of dodgers up top with a. coach. Coach will tell the dodger to either dodge into the fire zone, run around it, or clip the outside. The defender on the crease must hedge and be ready to slide if they enter the fire zone
Coaching Points & Principles
- Be in a ready position – Feet pointing to corners of field (45 degree look) and not to sideline
- Communciation
- Maintain the ball/you/man triangle
- Identify the dodger (Fire zones change based on player)
- Hedging (Show no go, to slow down dodger)
- Head on a swivel
- Meet Dodger at the top of fire zone
- Identify when to go an not go
