Skill Session: Shooting Around Screens

When shooting around a defender, use their body as a screen to hide your release from the goalie. Instead of always trying to step completely away from pressure, position yourself so the defender stays between you and the goalie, then shoot around their body or stick while maintaining a clear path to the cage. The goal is to make the goalie pick up the ball late, reducing their reaction time. Keep your release quick and deceptive, and look for opportunities to shoot when the defender is closing space or crossing the goalie’s line of sight.
