Set Up
Put a line of players on the Goal Line Extended with balls. 1 Player will be on offense, the other on defense. The player with the ball, will carry it to the “island” or 5×5 with a defender playing light pressure. As they are dodging, the defender will offer 1 of 3 affordances, and the offensive player must react. The offense should NOT know what the defender will do, making it more challenging game IQ wise.
- Shade behind or be on the players back – We want the offensive player to get top side for a shot
- Shade ahead, be on the front chest of the player – Inside roll or question mark dodge
- If the Defender stays neutral, we want the offensive player to BOUNCE, and the read/take the space a re-dodge
Coaching Points and Principles
- Have your head/eyes up while dodging
- Control the stick, protect the ball
- Read the defender – should be playing light, guided defense
