Set Up
Start down on one knee with the stick loaded and ready to shoot while a coach or partner drops the ball directly into the pocket. As soon as the player feels the ball settle, they can initiate the shot—no looking at the stick. By taking the lower body out of the movement, the drill isolates the upper body, hands, and torso, emphasizing turning through the shot, pulling the stick through the release, and developing a better feel for how the ball moves within the pocket.
Coaching Points & Principles
- Use upper body to turn through, focus on that top hand release
Progressions
- Try to remove the cradle once you feel the ball, for more control
