Set Up
Put 4 offensive players on the perimeter, and 3 defenders inside. Every offensive player line has a #, and whatever number coaches call, will trigger the offense. The defense must recognize where the ball is, and adjust to get in the best position to slow down the offense. The offense should find the open teammate and move the ball quickly to get high quality open shots. A great drill to work on unsettled, power play, or zone principles.
Coaching Points and Principles
- Defense – One player needs to play the ball, and backside needs to play zone like splitting the other offensive players. We want to keep our sticks up in the passing lanes to take away skips and knockdown passes
- Offense – Maintain good spacing and move the ball fast to find the best shot! Every shot should have hands free because we have made the defense move and passed the ball quick enough
