3v3 Dodging with Chris Robinson (McDonogh)

Set up

Put 2 lines on players on the high wings of the 12m, and a next to goal.. every line should have an offensive and defensive player. The drill start with the low plaster attacking the goal with a dodge, we want the off ball offensive teammates to move or create space so their teammate with the ball can’t be double teamed.

Coaching Points & Principles

  • Offensive – Good hard dodges, we want to try and make 1 move and go to get to that space or advantage on our defender. Off ball teammates can cut back side, or move away off ball creating space for your teammate. Players should always be moving to either create to move to space
  • Defensive – On Ball – good pressure defense! Try not to let the player get topside, think about driving them away from the goal. Off Ball Defense – YOU CANNOT STAY INSIDE THE 8M FOR MORE THAN 3 SECONDS! Make sure if you slide, are you doing it within the proper angles not getting into shooting space

Progressions

  • Initiate the dodges from different areas of the field
  • play 4v4 or 5v5
