Ground Ball Gauntlet

Gb Gauntlet Preview

Players scoop clean ground balls under mild pressure and immediately look upfield.

SET UP

Make two parallel lines 10–15 yards apart. A coach rolls balls between the lines. The first player in each line races to the ball, scoops, cradles twice, and passes to a coach or cone target.

Younger players scoop uncontested, U12–U14 add a trailing defender who can stick-check after the scoop (rules-appropriate).

Reset quickly so each girl gets many reps. Run in waves of 60–90 seconds.

COACHING POINTS & PRINCIPLES

  1. Both hands low, butt of the stick near the ground, and a wide base over the ball.
  2. Scoop through the ball and accelerate two steps—never stop on the pickup.
  3. Head up after the second cradle so the next pass is already chosen.
