Set Up

Put 2 lines up top of the offensive box. One line starts with the ball, and there will be a coach playing guided defense in the middle. We want out player starting with the ball, to get loaded like we are working on our step down shot. While that is happening, the player off ball makes a backdoor to the goal and gets the ball for an inside finish. Add a decision element to it, where both players have to read the slide of the defender to make the cut into the space shown/given.

Coaching Points and Principles

  • Start loaded like you are going to shoot
  • Make good passes through traffic with the coach inside
  • When the guided defender is put into place, find the space given to take the right shot

Progressions

  • Add other cuts into the mix
  • Move to different sides of the field
  • Add tougher defense
  • Work on certain finishes like high to low, twisters, etc..
