A great drill to work on goalie footwork all around the crease area!

Set Up

You’re your player in goal, and an offensive player behind the cage with balls. This drill will have multiple progressions

  1. Have the player the the ball come around cage, and throw fakes but DONT Shoot!
  2. Player comes around cage and shoots as soon as they turn the corner
  3. Player comes around the cage and shots in the middle of goal
  4. Player comes around the cage and shoots around the far side of the goal

Coaching Point and Principles

  • Goalies should focus on having proper foot work, working from facing ending, to holding pipe, and then proceed into their 3-4 steps around the arc
  • You can also use this in more live play as an offensive drill too, working on finishing!
