Transition to Settled Offense is a team concept for intermediate through advanced players that teaches teams to recognize when a transition advantage isn’t available, get organized, and flow smoothly into settled 6v6 offense.

SET UP

Start with players transitioning from defense to offense and encourage them to first probe for a 4v3 or 5v4 advantage. If the advantage isn’t there, move the ball safely, use a call to initiate substitutions, and get the correct offensive personnel onto the field. Once organized, establish proper spacing and flow directly into your settled offense.

COACHING POINTS & PRINCIPLES

  • Probe Before Settling: Look to attack transition first, but don’t force an advantage that isn’t there.
  • Get Organized: If transition is gone, move the ball, substitute efficiently, and establish proper offensive spacing.
  • Flow Into Offense: Transition and settled offense should connect—once personnel is set, everyone should know where to go and how the offense begins.
