Re-Dodge Recognition is a group offensive drill for intermediate through advanced players that builds muscle memory, offensive IQ, and the ability to recognize and attack a defensive double.
SET UP
Set up dodgers at the top of the box with cones positioned downhill to simulate where a defensive double occurs. Players dodge toward the goal, reach the cones, then react by either throwing back or re-dodging underneath with good stick protection. Progress by adding a coach holding up numbers to force players to keep their eyes up, then add an attacker at X as a forward outlet before turning the corner to finish.
COACHING POINTS & PRINCIPLES
- Recognize the Double: Use the cones as the trigger to recognize pressure and quickly decide whether to move the ball or re-dodge.
- Eyes Up: See the field before turning the corner so you are ready to feed and take what the defense gives you.
- Protect & Re-Attack: Drop the shoulder, protect the stick, and accelerate underneath when the defense takes away the initial dodge.
